Fishing in Singapore

Fishing in Singapore is a bustling hobby, and many keen anglers are mostly men, although there has been a significant increase in the number of women becoming more enthusiastic about this pastime after accompanying their husbands or wives for fishing escapades.

In the small island of Singapore, land is scarce, and there are not many nice, relaxing seas or lakes where one can engage in proper fishing activities. The National Parks Board Singapore has designated certain fishing spots in Singapore waterfront parks and reservoirs for anglers to carry out their fishing activities:

·         Bedok Reservoir Park

·         Changi Beach Park

·         Pasir Ris Town Park

·         West Coast Park

·         East Coast Park

·         Pulau Ubin

·         Lower Seletar Reservoir Park

·         MacRitchie Reservoir Park

·         Sembawang Park

·         Kranji Reservoir Park

However, there are anglers who commented that a popular fishing ground like Bedok Jetty in East Coast Park has less fish than other more secluded Singapore fishing spots like Changi Beach Park. West Coast Park has less fishing spots. And if you want to catch crabs using a wide casting net, try Sembawang Park.

Other areas that also interest anglers are Punggol seaside, Lorong Halus, the old Seagate Senoko,

Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (near the huge canal), Labrador Park, and Changi Beach, where there are rumours that there are many stingrays, groupers and catfish if you go at night.

The Southern Islands are also one region favoured by a lot of fishing enthusiasts as many said this area is probably Singapore’s most fertile fishing grounds. Made up of a cluster of islands like Kusu Island, Lazarus Island, Pulau Seringat, Pulau Tekukor, Saint John’s Island, Sentosa and the two Sisters’ Islands.

Nowadays, it is very popular for anglers to group together, rent a yacht and go out to the neighbouring islands to fish and relax. Singapore Diving King has already driven many anglers out to sea, with abundant rewards. If you are interested in renting a yacht for fishing activities or even unique birthday parties, do not hesitate to contact sgdivingking@gmail.com for the best rates in Singapore, and some say, Batam!
